Accessibility

The target

The engineering target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 at level AA. Automated checks run against the main pages on every build, and the interactive parts are tested with a keyboard. Automated tools do not catch everything, so this page also asks for your help.

What is built in

• Semantic structure with landmarks, one heading hierarchy per page, and a skip link to the main content.
• Every interactive element works with a keyboard and shows a visible focus ring. Dialogs, menus, the map, the framework stages, and the walk-through are all keyboard operable.
• Text alternatives for images and diagrams. Decorative illustrations are hidden from assistive technology; meaningful diagrams carry a description.
• Reduced motion is respected. With the operating system setting on, entrance animations and the fused-to-separated distinction are skipped.
• Text can be resized and the layout reflows on narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
• Videos are the official YouTube player, which carries YouTube’s captions and controls.
• Worksheets have a full web version, not only a PDF.

Known limitations

• The footer uses white text on coral. That pair measures 3.0:1, below the 4.5:1 target for small text. It is a deliberate design choice under review, and every footer link is also available elsewhere on the page.
• PDF worksheets, when published, may not carry full tagging. The web version is the accessible reference.

This site does not use an accessibility overlay or widget. Accessibility is done in the code itself.
